Monday. 1st October 2018. A beautiful spring morning. The morning light creeping over the horizon. Pastel blues and pinks stretching across the expanse just above the line of the horizon. What a privilege to see the light of day. What a privilege to live another day. It makes one feel strong enough to conquer the world.
And then come face to face with an Old Mutual poster that says this:
“The time is now to start something great. The time is now to reach new heights. The time is now to create your future!”
Yes, I took this as a sign even though this is referring to financial investment! I decided on that beautiful Monday, to set my mind on my new investment, my new goal, something I would like to do, something I am passionate about and would like to find a way to make it happen. Massive challenge. I could succeed or I could fail. I could be too late with the idea. Either way I choose to believe it just may be worth the effort.
Despite the gruelling tug-of-war in my head, the thoughts of incompetence and the sheer fear of the unknown, putting in so much effort for what could be an epic fail, I am determined to try and am encouraged by the many wise words of Richard Branson:
“Too many people measure how successful they are by how much money they make or the people that they associate with. In my opinion, true success should be measured by how happy you are.”
“My attitude has always been, if you fall flat on your face, at least you’re moving forward. All you have to do is get back up and try again.”
“Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.”
This is how we learn and grow. We dream. And we hope that our dream will be that one in a million, the opportunity to make something happen. Living ones passion. Acknowledging up front that we may still fall flat and miss the boat completely. But we move forward and keep trying.
I know it sounds too good to be true but I am going to give it a try. Maybe this very simple blog will keep me accountable and maybe one day I will have an amazing story to write!
