Time to lose the aura vampires

I’m writing this blog today at a time where I have spent an amazing long weekend with my husband and family and I have to admit just how lucky I am to have the family I have. We are in no way perfect but here is where I would choose to invest my time, seeking to inspire and bless.

This blog today is not an easy one to accept and possibly more of a message than a blog. I do hope though, that it is one you can identify with and choose to invest wisely in.

“An ‘aura’ is the ever-changing flow of life energy around one’s body.”

I believe an aura comes from the very depths of our souls, the source and pool from which our energy streams out from. It comes from what we believe and what we make as important in our lives, that determines who we are. It either attracts or repulses. It either builds up or tears down. It either creates or destroys.

The latter of each, my husband likes to define as an aura vampire. Someone who sucks and steals the very life out of genuinely good souls, good people. They are those so bent on breaking others down in an attempt to build their own egos, it becomes a sick game of personal survival. Some might say their efforts of destruction makes them a stench so bad that it is repulsive. Their aura becomes dark and heavy and ugly.

“Who you surround yourself with now will determine who you become in the future…”

More and more I realise just how important it is to surround yourself with family and friends that emulate life-giving streams of energy. A life that is attractive, and creative. And even more so we need to extend this into our working environments. The more we create and build others up, the more attractive we become. People will want to spend time with you because it’s easy and beautiful. There’s no life-sucking opinions and demands.

Just for a moment, think about the people you interact with:

  • Do they steal your energy?
  • Do you feel emotionally drained when you say goodbye?
  • Do you think twice before seeing them?
  • Do you have to try really hard just to get going?
  • When you in a conversation are you somewhere else in your thoughts?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, then consider yourself entertaining a world of greed. Ultimately what we do here is fuel their need for their egos to be better, bigger and more boastful. These people will eventually suck all life out of you if you are not aware. It’s all good and well being helpful in times when you are needed and genuinely lending a shoulder to lean on, but what I am referring to here is the chosen time spent in order to build relationships and have an impact. Where is your investment?

What about any of the following:

  • Do you feel that the world is a better place because of that specific interaction?
  • Do you look forward to spending time with that person?
  • Does that person bring out your best?
  • Do you feel full after the interaction?
  • Is there a mutual benefit?

If any of the above is yes, then choose to invest wisely. Pour out everything you have into those interactions and share the experiences and wisdom gained. Be the life-giving stream this world so badly needs. Wean out the demanding, negative interactions that empower nobody, not even egos! Choose not to entertain those aura vampires!

  1. What a powerful and very true message. Thank you! It’s so easy to get sucked into that negativity and it happens without thinking about it however I have learnt that spending time with people that built you up gives you the freedom and joy that you need to be able to live in now days.
